This is our new turtle. The breeder sent me this picture of him because I asked for one. This little guy will be arriving on tuesday morning! we are so excited! We named him Hobbes, after the stuffed tiger from the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes. He is just a bit bigger than a quarter, and in my opinion is absolutely beautiful. we had 5 turtles we could choose from and he is the perfect one for us.

Who did you order from?

You have a lot of little turtles. Are you prepared for a VERY large tank, or many large tanks when they grow up.

i ordered from a breeder that i've been in contact with for the last 6 months or so. and yes i am prepared for a VERY large tank, but luckily i don't have to worry about that for a little while. as i said in a previous post, one of my turtles i am just babysitting for my girlfriends little brother so he is only temporary. i plan on keeping this new little guy in his own tank for quite some time. i have a 29g tank, and two 20g breeders set up currently, with plans for a very large tank within the next year or so. thanks for your concern.

Nice pics! I would probably keep him away from abrasive surfaces for awhile.

I have a question, are albino's more susceptable to thermal burns due to the lack of pigmentation?

Good point... I believe they lack some protection and should be kept indoors. Their vision is initially poor too, so feeding will require more effort.

yeah I've heard about the poor vision, apparently there is a breeding effort going on to retify the poor vision in albino genetics, that is what lead to the hatching of the snow albino RES, another very cool color morph.
