Love your idea. I think I'm going to modify it for my tank. What do you do when you need to clean the tank?

When I do full water changes, I actually have to take the "penthouse" off. I know... not the most practical, but still worth it.

But in-between full changes, I take out poops with a net and do partial water changes with a pitcher.

Have you conditioned that wood with anything to make it water resistant? Cause that wood can get warped over time causing a lot of trouble.
If you haven't then can I suggest the idea of tung oil? It's 100% safe for turtles. I use it for my dock and it's flicks off water like nothing. My dock gets warped because of the heat from the basking lamp though.

1 Ouachita Map Turtle 4.0'' (Hurricane)
The rest of the turtles have been adopted to good homes. :)

Here, as promised a picture of how I assembled my ramp:

I drilled the plexiglass
and drilled my old "floating dock" and
I used zip-ties (the blue things) to keep the floating dock in place.
Then on top I have the Zilla Green Reptile Terrarium Liner: http://www.petco.com/product/104018/Zil ... Liner.aspx

To decorate the Penthouse or "dry level" I have on top of the Zilla Green Reptile Terrarium Liner:
An old "floating dock"
An Exo-Terra Jungle Vine
Exo-Terra Silk Ficus Jungle Plant
Exo-Terra Silk Abutilon Jungle Plant
(all the plans are expensive but awesome!!! Totally worth it!)

And to line the background/sides I used an Aquarium Background Cling
(had to buy 2 - 1 for the back, 1 for both sides)
