First clutch of the year, she is 10 years old, when I got her they said she has laid many times before. The other two were a no go. One was infertile from the beginning, other died one month in. It collapsed in on itself. Sadly there was a small dead turtle inside that egg and actually she did lay 1 more egg after those 3 in a whole other nest. That one is still looking good.

A newly hatched turtle is no different then an adult, they automatically have the same care right away. The only differences is right when they hatch they might not have completely absorbed their yolk so you have to give them a day or two on a damp paper towel to absorb it. Also baby turtles have an egg tooth. Which is a small white point on their beak that they use to crack open the egg shell which will fall off in a couple days and they wont eat for a couple days too from absorbing the yolk. Otherwise I put him in a 10 gallon tank and he swam fast and strong like he was doing it for years.

Very cool!

@cameron740 - it's normal and should be absorbed in a couple of days.

Congratulations!
I was looking at the post times. So did it take 3 hours or so to hatch? Just curious.
