Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

So, I've decided to get a stock tank for my turtles and I was wondering about what size I should get and what I you guys would recommend for it. Stuff like Heaters, filters, basking areas, something to cover the top because I have two very curious felines.

How many turtles and their genders? How big are they? If it's indoors, you can use regular aquarium equipment.

One is a confirmed female, while the other is still a little too small. One's about 4 inches and the other 2.5. They're red eared and yellow bellied slider mixes.

Would you have room for a 300 gallon tank?

I would have to measure and get deminsions for the tank and everything.

300 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank is 63"W x 69"L x 25"H. My setup includes 2 250 watt heaters an fx5 filter and a circulation pump. Large limestone rock sitting on top of a 5 gallon bucket for the basking area. As for a top you can buy all kinds of heavy gauge wire and just paint it. I also put it on a 8" tall stand so my filter would purge.

Thank you Steve my Turtles and I just love it! Might have to buy another one when my 2 DBT's get bigger. I've got the room but would have to call an electrician to add some or at least one more outlet on a different breaker. Oh boy new tank more heaters fx6 isn't life fun. He he.

Alright, I've got a space measured out in the room, I'll look into the pricing. Tractor Supply Co. has them for some where around 250$. Anywhere cheaper that I'm not seeing?

No that's where I got mine! Keep in mind that a pool in your house might cause some problems. One that I need to address this weekend is moisture. I have bare water lines in my basement and they are dripping from condensation. Exhaust fan looks like a possible fix.

Well, it's a garage that's been converted into a room. There's not any bare water lines or anything. I've already thought about the moisture problem for the room and my first thought was a dehumidifier than I realized that wouldn't really help because I'd constantly be adding water into it.

Your going to like the tank. Keep in mind suction cups don't stick to the tank so your going to need to mount some plexi for that.

Thanks for that tip! I was going into the stock tank thing rather blindly before I remembered this site.

I think magnetic clips might be used instead of suction cups, though they are a bit pricy.
