Hello everybody, I came to this forum cause I need help identifying this turtle that I found in the park, it seems like someone abandoned this lil guy/girl (I don't know) in a park with no ponds, no lakes no water at all the poor turtle was left to die...I thought it was a red ear slider but after searching around I'm not sure since the pattern is not similar to those and doesn't have red markings but yellow....I need to know because I can't keep it and realeasing RES into the wild is illegal in ny and I am located in NYC, Id appreciate any info you can provide, thanks a lovely day... ill leave a link w pictures below

Looks like a yellow bellied slider, though could also be hybrid.

Yes... where did you find it? There is turtle rescues of long island that you can try to reach... I think she's going to stop taking pet turtles at the end of the month.

in a park in the bronx, I was walking my dog when I saw it, I started looking for park ranger but didn't see any, and I didn't want to leave it there (theres no ponds or lakes at this park), the shell was really dry
