I have a slider for 21 year , it is 8" long.Lately it is trying to escape by standing on the dry area. Sometimes she flips over on her back. We have a 50 gal. bow clear tank with plenty of water. We have a ramp for a drying area. As I am typing now, she is in the corner on her hind legs..Maybe its egg laying time? thanks in advance for any repllies..

Very possible, has she ever been gravid before? Have you tried feeling for eggs?

She might be holding them, and then expel them in water later.

Sorry, I'm not replying. I can't figure out how to post. I've had Jack for 4 yrs. Thought he was male until I came home from work & found eggs in the tank. I then read I need to make a nest for her. I put her outside in the garden; she goes right back inside. I put topsoil in an aquarium, she doesn't like it & tries to get out. I put her back in her home...she drops an egg. Nine in the past two weeks. Eight in the first. From what I've read, she needs to make a nest & not lay the eggs in water. I fear health issues if she retains. She has bumps on her back end. I'm assuming it's eggs. What do I do? My vet didn't even know she was female.

What's the weather like outside? Put her outside when she exhibiting the symptoms at that moment. Indoor nest, in-tank nest, etc, don't normally work and usually makes just a mess. Feel for eggs in front of the rear leg, not back (the area between the tail and leg).

Heya! Im Agate!
I have been doing the same thing. I have also been digging in the corner of my tank. Mom thinks I might lay eggs! She is a little sad because I dont have a mate to fertilize them though... She will look at them but then she will have to throw them out. :'(
Try taking her to a reptile specialist if this persists. I am sending out my turtle thoughts and prayers to your little turtle, and calling on my brothers and sisters to help. Best of luck!
