Steve , if this post appears twice cut one. Sorry see now where I could do that. My upgrade to windows 10 locked up. Wish I stayed with windows 7 home edition! Ok , just looking for real info on sterilizers. Don't have a problem , thinking as I get older for help with less maintenance. I hear that they work. But what I don't see is why one was needed / what caused a problem , just they work. I'm only have about 20 post on this forum but have over 30 years in hobby. Successful ! Mickey is 18 now , would of had older friends but Katrina took them. Only found Mickey adult male RES , my friend , after that hurricane. I like keeping all natural tanks. Some friend use natural sand I use natural river rocks. Both work. But here and videos I see never get to what caused there problem. Newbies that have asked me what they can do for a problem and I always ask why the problem showed up. Manufactured gravel breaks down over years , ornament , what type of rocks , plastic plants/live , a lot has an affect on tanks. Some are looking for a miracle drug or product to do all there work. Myself I even test my tap water. I've been asked why...in my city it changes from winter to summer. Now it's very high alkaline. Lately I did find an all natural waste remover , fluker's and I say it really works. Find that it does break down the solid waste so the filter get most of it. Can see big difference in filter. I'm getting older with way to many tanks. Wife and I agree it will get down to one 150 gallon indoor. Have pictures on this forum and I think its OK/good. Finding good real homes for some friends but taking a long time. They will never be put in the wild by me to die. Like Mickey , my daughter into turtles and will take Mickey , want him to live another 18 years after I am gone. I'm a DIY guy (retired) and/or use what I got. Have lots pond filters and use them just change media up for turtles. Bio filter's home made , all work very well. Found this forum is the best , good people , good advise , really into the health of there friends. So I need some help here if UV sterilizers can help cut down maintenance. My water has no problems so starting with good , thinking less maintenance since I'm in retirement. Again some say they had cloudy water and put a sterilizer in tank ,it worked. ME I always ask why it got cloudy before a fix. Some never find out why it happened or why a problem showed up , most of the time it was/is them. Something they put in the tank or did. I have to me a good setup good water and healthy friends. As I get older just looking for easier/less maintenance so I can have even better habitats for my friends. Thanks' guys ! Any readings or ideas.
