General Care Discussion :: Bathing

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Fri Jan 12, 2018 11:52 pm   Bathing

So I have a res she's about a month or so old ( going by from when I got her ) but it seems like she needs a bath. There's slim or something on her legs and a little bit on her neck. I don't mean like a mucous type slime like from being sick. But she's really shy and won't let my clean her legs and won't bring her head out so I can get to clean her neck.

Anyone have any tips ?

What do you mean? Is there a color to the slime?

This isn't my turtle I went to Google to see if I can find something similar since she's still sleeping but this seems to look just like what I see on her skin. Just its not as "bad" as it is in this picture.
Could this just be skin shedding? I really don't think its a sign of sickness she's very very active and she bask ( mainly more towards night time ) so I don't think it'd be from her not drying off.

I know I'm here posting often this is like my 4 post bit I just don't want nothing going wrong with her. I love hard haha

I would do a gently cleaning (be careful as they are very slippery and their claws/feed are pretty strong) and then re-examine the shell. Some of the fuzziness in the photo is from skin shedding. Also, are you saying she is not shedding?

No I'm saying im hoping that it is skin shedding and not anything else
Its just gonna be hard to cleaner her because she's so small and shy so I know she's not gonna keep her legs and neck out for me to clean her

So is this on her skin or not? If its thin, wispy and hard to see out of water then its normal.

You don't need to bath her. It's normal unless it's discolored/thick/excessive.
