Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hi! I have an around 10 inch female red eared slider. She is in a 200 gallon tank and has been alone her whole life (except when we got her she was with other turtles her size then). We were thinking about getting another turtle or two. We even found two on Craigslist in very bad condition ( bowl, no basking light, misinformed breed; the works) and we wanted to save them. We were just wondering if it would be safe. We don’t want our current turtle to hurt the little ones (about 4 inches). Would 200 gallons be enough? (The babies look to be yellow bellied sliders or yellow bellied red eared mixes) Thanks!

200 is enough technically but what really matters is that they get along. If there is aggression, a 500 gallon tank won't stop it. If you do get another turtle, have a plan to separate them if they fight. If you can't afford two tanks or have the time to maintain them then you will want to rethink about it.
