A while back I told someone that I would show them pictures of my turtle dock. I have two 5" turtles and the Zoo Med Large turtle dock would sink when they were both on there. When learning about turtles I had bought all the different sizes of the Zoo Med docks before realized they needed the biggest one. Since I had an extra medium size dock around I checked the holes and they were spaced the same. Also both of there support pieces were the exact same size. At this point I stacked the two docks, put one support through the top and one through the bottom. Put the suction cups back on the supports and put it in the tank. The medium dock adds buoyancy and helps everything float better. Plus it is being held by 8 suction cups rather then 4. So if you have one that just does not want to stick it will hold.
Anyway here are some pictures, I hope it will help people looking for and easy alternative for bigger turtles.
Neat idea! I would still be sure that their bottom shells are getting completely dry. The one on the left looks like he's most of the way out, but the other still looks like he's going under a bit.
That was the rare moment when they could get along enough to be on it together. My major concern was my female that would sink the large dock by herself. As you can see below, even with two docks she pushs it down pretty far.
That's a cute pic as well. My two are 4 inches each and they still bask together. I am waiting for the day when the dock won't hold them both. So far so good!
