I lost the instructions for my filter- which is a fluval 4plus- and there is a big clog because the little indicator is up and the filter is doing a pretty pitiful job- how do I unclog it? (if anyone has this filter or just in general knows how to unclog a filter- please help!)

Mine would do that too. I'd take it all apart, clean it and it'd be running fine again. Probably just too much junk in there.

Not sure if this helps, but here is the manufacturers web-site manual...

I didn't have the 4Plus but I had a 3 and it would get clogged very quickly with sludge, take it apart and rinse the media in dechlorinated or tank water and put it back together, should work fine after that.

Thanks! I have no idea where I put those directions but I should be cleaning his tank here in the next few days so I'll unclog it then- this won't be a constant problem will it? because if that's the case I may want to do another filter?

Unfortunately when I had the 3 I had to clean the filter every week or so which is why I upgraded to a Fluval 404 cannister which only needs cleaning every month or so

I've used the 4+---you may want to start thinking about another filter. (How big is your tank?)

I found it a pain to clean. Some members have also noted that the button will stick out indicating it needs cleaning when it really didn't.
