I took these a few weeks ago. They are of my female RES Shamrock laying eggs. I have set up an egg laying area for her but she always perfers to lay them on the basking platform instead. Whatever works right!

She lays them on the basking platform then they fall into the water. The male ate them immeatately. I have heard that unless she burrys them and they go undisturbed they won't hatch anyway. Which is probably a good thing since she lays about 12 at a time. I don't know what I would do with 12 baby turtles. These pictures were taken a few weeks ago and she just layed about another dozen or so today. I have set up nesting areas for her but she always perfers to lay them on the platform. I'm not sure if females will lay eggs if there is no male. _________________

Yes, females will lay eggs with or without a male, they just won't be fertile. _________________ 2 RES: Leo (f) and Ezra (m)

Had you planed on having a baby turtle or was it just luck of the draw when you got a male and female? _________________ "How can we rise up if we have not fallen?"

I didn't know their sexes when I got them, they were only a few weeks old. So no, I am definately not planing on any more turtles. The two that I have are plenty for me! I would love to have more but I don't have the room. _________________

Wowsers, she looks like a real big girl. How old is she? It is unnatural for them to lay eggs like that, and she should have a better nesting area... though I am glad she is expelling those eggs!
