I just found a Rena XP3 canister filter for $119.99 at aquariumguys.com.

That's BY FAR the cheapest I've ever seen one of these.

119.99 is their sale price. It says that the regular price is 124.99, which is only $5 more expensive, and still way cheaper than other stores.

Does anyone have experience with aquariumguys.com? Too good to be true? Just wondering if this is a trustworthy website before I get too excited.

I have seen them for 80 at Bigals but the sale has been done for a month or so. I got mine at www.petmountain.com and it was a little less than 119 at the time.

WOW, that price has skyrocketed since the last time I was looking at them. What happened to the $89.99 price at Big Als? It is now $139.99!!! You are right though, that is the best price I can find, as of right now. It might go back down, or it might go back up. You never know...

Good luck!

Nathan.

Yeah, the prices were low in like November and December (PetSmart online had $105), and then boom, everyone raised the prices. $120 is a good price, though check on shipping, they might get you there.

I doubt it's Rena that raised the prices. When I was looking at prices back in January, the "retail" price was 189$ for an XP3. So, all of those websites were just selling them for significantly less. But I think that they are running out of stock or realizing that lots of people want the nice canister filters (probably thanks to this board!). I think we should tell Rena and Fluval to give us a cut!

Just for reference, that petmountain site is also selling the XP3 for $169.99. They list the "retail price" at $291... :shudders: ...but we should get a cut

It wouldn't surprise me if the increased prices are due to the mfgr---in this case Rena. The same thing happened last year with Aquaclears; the staff at bigals told me that the price increase for the filters was implemented at direction of Hagen, and all Hagen's products had gone up. The mfgr wanted the prices to be more in line with the prices of retailers. I also got this story from the staff I talked with at another site.

Most people use the Zoo Med turtle dock. For a 4 inch, I'd recommend the extra large one ( I have one that can support two 3.5 inch turts).

If you want to make one, I'd just look at others' posts and copy off of them.
