I had a request to put up a picture of Sheba's black belly now that she finished peeling on the bottom! As much as she hates laying on her back, I put her on her back just long enough to snap the picture, then gave her a blueberry as a reward for being so patient with me. Enjoy!

Thank you soooo much for posting the pic! I've been wondering about her belly. It's really unique, like she walked through some black ink or something. No hint of spots at all.

Sheba is sooo pretty! I've read about your "experiences" with Sheba in your almost 18 years, it must be awesome. I know how much I love Brooks in her 4 years. My question to you is she's really quite small, my female is huge. Has she always been pretty small and how long is she?

Hi Kayra,

Despite her small appearance in the picture, Sheba's shell is 9 inches long and she is a very chunky, solid turtle. She weighs about 4 & 1/2 pounds (like a sack of flour, LOL).

Safdar - sometimes I DO hug her! She hates it though and struggles against me, just like a kid would. LOL

Brooks is about 7 inches and 3.5 lbs so I can relate but she's only about 4 years old...Sheba is a very pretty turtle and I really like her unique black plastron :lol:

Shes a RES, the oldest one on the forum

I think their plastrons get like that after a while, just like some sometimes turn melanistic (all black).

Sheba isn't the oldest now, there's one thats 18 years old and one thats 32!
