A RES? OR?...

Hi,

Saw this among the RES selling in the local aquarium, doesn't look like a RES to me, and it seems to be not into pellet. Which i find weird for a baby, (the other RES i've got were more carnivore when they were babies)
Any idea what species it might be so that i can care for it better?

It sure looks like a RES to me! :D The "ear stripes" are not always bright red, they can be anywhere from a dark red, to a pale yellow.

Get a picture of their plastron (belly). A lot of turtles have redears and similar shells and are not RES, judging by the ears is not a good way to ID a turtle. And no thats not a painted.

He looks just like my little guys when I first got them, their ears have gotten a little darker too since I got them... I vote RES until we see the plastron...

My RES didn't have a red marking behind the ear when I got him and he was about the same size. After a couple months the red started to slowly show up. That being said, my vote would be RES. At lest based on the pictures I saw.

Lots of turtles shells look a lot like different species. My Serra's shell looks almost identical to a RES shell but no one'll ever call her a RES!
