Today I took Frankie for a walk (DUW)

Yesterday Frankie took herself for a walk. Today I thought I should take her.
She seems to really enjoy it. She just walks around, checks things out. Usually I bring her in when she starts looking for places to hide, but today I got tired before she did :P

"Oooo! Fresh air!"

"I suppose you're going to follow me around all day, aren't you?"

Frankie discovers the garden.

Watch out for that first step, it's a doozy!

"Turnips? I don't like turnips!"

And the damage:

Apparently Frankie doesn't like onions. She went over them at least 4 times. No wonder onions never do well in our garden

"I don't like green onions either..."

"Hmm... The world beyond the fence looks pretty scary..."
Image

"That's it! I'm running away from home!"
Image

"You say there's no pellets in the wide world? Forget that then!"
Image

"Hi mom! ^_^"
Image

"These rocks are fun to walk on!"

Thanks :)

Bleh, I know! When I got her, she had some serious retained scutes. She only started to shed them in pieces a few months ago, and I found the first whole scute a couple of weeks ago. You can see the freshly shed scute in the pics - it's one of the marginal scutes on her left side, and it looks a beautiful bright brown. A lot of them look like they'd just fall right off, but when I touch them, they feel like they're still on there quite solidly. I'm hoping with some real sunlight this summer

Hmm... Interesting point... I went back and looked at some of the other pics that I didn't post, and found that she did have her tail out in some of them. I think she just tucked her tail in when she was bulldozing over plants

Aw, your turtle is adorable!!! I adore her ^___^

Huh, that's interesting. On the back, on one of the middle bottom scutes, right before the marginal ones, Typhoon has a white line just like the line on your turtle's scute, except her's is a bright white color. She's had it for months, it's never changed or appeared anywhere else, and it's perfectly symmetrical like the one in the photo. It's in the exact same place as your turtle's line too. (I posted a thread long ago wondering what the heck the line was).

Maybe I'll show some pictures some day.

Are you talking about those little white spots that run down the ridge on her back?

I think those are sort of rub marks. She's had them since I got her (and it's one of the first things I noticed about her shell, when I inspected it for rot or anything else). Ralph got a bright white spot on the front of his shell when he ran full speed into a rock outside. I think they're kind of like a bruise, like how we get a white spot on our nails when we bash them. Ralph's went away after a few months, I think after his next shed.
Frankie's haven't gone away yet because she hasn't shed yet!

Sounds like she doesn't much enjoy her time outside. That's exactly what Ralph does when he's out. You could try taking her out for very short periods of time at a time, to see if she gets used to it. Me, I've pretty much given up taking Ralph outside. I still give it a try at least once a year, but he never seems to change, and just ends up hurting himself running into rocks
