Harley's Adventure!

Took my new RES outside today for the first time. It was a bit cloudy/overcast so not much sun, but I tried. Sighs. He had fun though.

Also, after looking at these pics can someone tell me if that spot on his shell is shell rot? A scute peeled from there the other day so maybe it is just from that...He was in crappy water in a 10 gallon tank before I bought him a few days ago, so maybe it is from that? I hope its not shell rot :(

Also, I tried to take a few pics where his claws are clearly visible. I think he's a boy, but would like confirmation.

:D Thanks.

his tank...not very good yet :( 60 gallons.

Nice! If it's possible, maybe raise the water up a tad (I know you're getting a floating dock soon). The water looks like it might be shallow enough for him to flip over and drown.

His nails aren't that long, interestingly enough, but that tail just screams male ;) Harley is for sure a boy.

The one scute that's a different colour, I don't think it's shell rot, though I could be wrong. Looks to me like it might be a retained scute, or a scute just about ready to shed. Keep a close eye on it.

He looks really healthy :)

Yeah I feel bad that the water is so low. Can't wait for my dock to come in the mail! Aw I don't want him to drown. I might try to prop the rock higher with more stuff under it so I can raise the water a bit for now.

Yeah his nails aren't that long but he seems male to me too.

I hope it's not shell rot. Yeah he just shed the scute from there. I'll keep a close eye on it.

Thanks, he's my baby.

Thanks for the post.

My turtle has shell rot, unfortunately, from being kept in poor living conditions before me purchasing him, and what your turtle has doesn't look like shell rot to me! Not only that, but your turtle has a wonderful shell, and he looks to be nice and active! :D

Aww... I love your turtle~! Of course Harley is a boy by looking at the thick tail.. and he looks great and healthy! His shell looks fine to me, maybe just one piece of retained scutes.. don't worry. Love your turt~! such a handsome boy~!

~~I like the last pic.. when turtle relaxing on the towel.. what a cute baby~! :D

Thanks.

I filled the tank more since then, it has about 6-7 inches of water now. But since that crappy rock is really short, I had to prop all kinds of tank accessories under it to make it above the water level and I don't feel confidant that it is safe /stable enough. I've been watching him climb on it and he's been fine so far but I'm so worried. I really hope the turtle ramp I ordered comes in the mail soon.

Really?

What a coincidence. :)

Cute name.

Oh, in response to my original post...that discoloured area on his shell...a scute came off there today. I worry WAY too much. :)
