Yeah he's just a wee itty bitty bugger. (could be almost a booger..they are green and little lol!) But I'm glad I got his new setup, so much better compared to the last and now I get to take all these cool pictures! And he's constantly playing so hopefully I'll have some new pictures for all of you and his huge apple snail (the snail is stealing the show anymore because people are just amazed when they can see it eat and stick out it's breathing tube..now if only Michelangelo had a breathing tube he would be the star of the tank again...)

lol, sounds funny....my turtles killed one of my smails...he was floating in the water, so i smelled him...and if my memory serves right, dead snail smell like rotton eggs and poo....not pleasant...they ripped his trapdoor off...so i flushed him, not a big deal though

Just exactly how big is your snail??? I've heard that the apple snails can get softball size, but I have never seen one that big. Just curious!

He's just about softball size maybe a wee bit smaller. He's a monster. And my turtle has already killed one of the smaller snails, he ate it out of the shell. But he's left this one alone, in fact he thinks it is a rock and sits on the snail's shell.....so far the snail doesn't like it. But hey to each his own.

But if I ever get baby apple snails (I'm pretty sure I have a male and female applesnail, the female needs to get bigger though because she's rather tiny still compared to the big guy) I could maybe send you some or something. Cause they lay their eggs above water and personally I don't feel like having 80 baby snails crawling around everywhere.

lol, no need. I am breeding trumpet snails right now. I'm not sure of their nutritional value, but I want them to clean the tank. Mine have laid about 500 eggs so it seems. Trumpet snails aren't something that can be purchased in the stores, most people consider them pests, but they hitch rides on plants and stuff. I convinced the 'nice' people at Petland to give me a couple and they did. So far none of the eggs have hatched, but I just noticed them about 3 days ago. My research shows it will take them approx 3-6 weeks to hatch. Guess we'll just wait and see.

I hope that you never want to get rid of them. I had a fish tank a couple of years ago, and one of those snails got into my tank on a plant that I had bought, it took me FOREVER to get rid of those things. And when I would get the number down, more and more would hatch. It really isn't fun. I hope you have them in a seperate container from your turts. It will be a mess but hopefully they are good for the turts. Let us know.

Well if they do have babies I know a guy who would like some to make a meal out of (how someone can eat snails..I don't know...but that's just gross) and I might sell some to the pet stores. And what I have left will be Michelangelo's food if he wants them. And if not my neighbor has a pond he might want some in.

They aren't in the turtle tank, they are in the guppy tank. I've learned a lot about the little boogers though. They won't eat your live plants, they eat the leftover fish food and can help with over feeding. They clean the algea and other leftover waste. The only downfall of these little snails is the fact that they reproduce so fast. I quite frankly can just hand them over to the turts if I get too many...which is my hope. I'll let you know if I regret it later

Well apparently my mom saw a baby snail in my tank, I was like ok..I have two baby guppies now, a pregnant guppy that just needs to give birth anytime now, and a baby snail somewhere....

But then she saw my apple snail had food in it's mouth and she was like OHHH LOOK LOOK LOOK!! I swear she acted like a kid in the toy shop. I never knew snails could entertain people so well....

LOL! My mom is totally into all of my stuff too! She likes the baby anythings... guppies, snails, the turts!
