I went to this locally owned aquarium store to pick up a few fish and I was looking around and noticed these little guys. They looked to be about 1" or less in size, don't know how good you can tell from the pictures but they are so so so tiny.

Poor guys

They shouldn't be selling them this small

Are you in the US? They are suppose to be 4" to be legal

. At least they have a basking area and there arent 100 of them crammed in there. They are so hard to resist when they are babies arent they?

Yeah I'm in the US. I know and they are way under the 4" size. It looked like they were barely 1" big

Very hard to resist

Speak to the manager or inform the local turtle rescue/org and see if they can deal with it quietly.

I researched on Google to see if their are any turtle rescue groups around here and I just can't seem to find any. Should I contact my local humane society?

Is this by any chance in Houston, Texas? Looks awfully familiar to a store I visited a couple of weeks ago in the Asian part of the town.

awwwww they are so cute!! they look like they're in a surprisingly nice set up. Usually teeny tiny babies are sold in horrendous conditions.
Also, $30 is a lot for a 1" turtle O__o

I know they're setup isn't horrible but still they are really tiny

but so cute.
@1iquid5Snake it isn't Houston, Texas but thankfully I have contaced a local rescue group that I found and they are looking into it. I wish I could take them home with me.

In Florida they are allowed to sell at that size for "research or class purposes". I bought my yellow belly at that size for 13 bucks and I had to sign a form basically saying I'm buying the turtle for those reasons. Obviously I wasn't but thats how they cover their butts.

OMG that's way over priced besides being illegal.

Funny thing is, many pet stores sell them, but they say for educational purpose only, but I've heard of them sell them to parents with there kids with them.
