Wow! What some nails on that boy! Are they both males or just that one in the second pic (hard to tell in the third pic)? Very nice pics, thanks for sharing. :D

Thanks :D

I know that the turtle in the second picture, "Sam", is a male.
I just assumed that the other one was female based on the fact that they often do their fluttering claws routine now and then.

However, after reading several posts today on mating habits I'm not so sure anymore. I didn't realize that the fluttering claws thing was something that 2 males could do as well.

The fluttering claws is a mating ritual as well as a sign of aggression in some instances, say if their habitat is too small or they simply are not compatible to live together. What length of nails does the other one have? If they are long as well, then it could be you have two boys. :)

Either sex can flutter at another (of even the same sex).

Those paddles for back feet and those spikes on the front paws---very much like my RES, Tilly. :)
