Soooo my fiance and I were bored so we decided to take the kids out for their monthly photos. haha :) We had a lot of fun. We finally figured out how to make my camera take decent pics....

I know it's too soon to tell. But I can't wait to determine their sexes. The one on the left is slightly bigger now at 2 3/8" and the one on the right is 2 1/4". And the one on the left appears to have a thicker longer tail. But then who knows at this point.... any chance I could have one of each?

For being such good sports I hand fed them each a guppy....

And then I forgot to take my finger completly out of the water... so I got nipped... haha

Some cute pictures there.. I love the 2nd one.. that look is so adorable. :)

As for sexing them.. hmmm the one does look like a male but the other I'm not to sure about and the nails on both of them look short. Now you see why they say to wait until they are bigger.. :)

Yeah the nails are still pretty short. But I did notice that while handling them the one with the thick tail did have much sharper nails. Which probably doesn't mean anything. lol

I'm just really anxious to see them grow up. Not that I'm rushing it, but it just seems like they are taking forever to grow. I've had them for 9 or 10 months now. I think it was somewhere on here someone had posted pics of their turtles at one year and they were monsters compared to mine.

I'm not too worried though. I guess it all depends on how much junk you do or don't feed them....

I like the 7th picture, the rear shot. So cute! Be sure to enter some of those into the photo contest.

Koopa is the same way. We've had him a while now and after an initial growth spurt he seems to have just stopped. But slow and steady growth is considered better than too fast of growth. I keep looking at his nails, saying, they are getting longer, aren't they? lol :)

Yay I'm glad everyone liked them so much. I hadn't really thought of submitting them for the phot contest cause I guess I didn't think they were THAT great... but I'll probably do it now... what's the deadline? It still says Jan 29 on there...

Oh and there was one pic I ment to post but forgot....

they are so cute, you took very nice shot of them too ^_^, one thing that I noticed is the turtle in second and fourth picture seems to have different pattern on his/her shell in the middle column, it seems that it split into two piece instead of one, is he/she always been like that? it's very neat

I think she's talking about the scutes that go in a straight line down one turtle's back (the one in the nipping pic). On the other turtle they are crooked.

The one turtle may have an extra scute (count them and complare with the other's). If so, this can happen--my RES has an extra vertebral scute and one of my painteds has an extra scute as well.

They're very cute. :) In the 8th picture, it looks like your turtle has teeth!

Yeah after having that pointed out I looked at them closley and sure enough one of them has 3 rows down it's back and the other has 4. I was so impressed! Now I have a new way to tell them apart!! I'm so excited! haha!

Yeah it does look like he has teeth. That guppy was a mouth full!
