I was able to sneek up behind toku and grab a pic, he didn't even move. His head started to turn towards my direction as I walked out the room. Got ya Toku!

Sometimes they launch at first sight, sometimes they don't care at all. Not sure if I can ever figure these guys out.

it's play sand. This sand is the most natural look I can find that isn't hard to clean when I do clean the tank. I would like to use a mix of play sand, mud and rocks but filteration maintenance would be a nightmare. So I just use the sand for substrate. Personnally, I think sand is easier top clean than rocks. The best tank to keep clean is a bare bottom. I went with that setup when I first started caring for RES. But about 5 yrs ago I decided to try play sand. Its has been my substrate of choice ever since.

Figured it was sand of some type, just not play sand. Looked a little grittier than the play sand I've seen. Maybe because the little specs of different colors.

your not the first one to say that, lol. I actually heard that alot. Toku has had no problem with this sand. He has had this sand in his tank since he was hatched.
