Everyone was snoozing and I had just finished putting together the new stand for our 40 gallon breeder tank that I'm setting up this weekend and thought to snap a few pics. There not the greatest. Please excuse the water marks on the tank glass.

Aquatic: Its a metal stand I picked up with the tank at Petco. I'm not that handy to build my own stand LOL. My heater has been delayed on being delivered so I have to wait a couple more days before I can tranfer the little guy into his home. Ill post pics later this week of the whole setup once its done.

Kado: Yeah the waterfall is nice but not worth the money I spent on it. I'm planning on taking it out once the turtle starts to grow some more and add a ATBA. I've been looking at all the pics on here and trying to figure out how I want to make ours. Eggcrate seems to be in the lead.

thanks! checked it out! about how much did it cost you to build that? trying to decide whether it will be cheaper to build or buy a stand. and how is it holding up now since that was about 2 years ago?

No worries, the stand cost about $50 to build. This price includes wood, screws and paint. The stand has been torn down twice and rebuilt for moving. It is still holding up and extremly sturdy. I can't shake it.

Finally got it all setup last night. The heater was supposed to have been delivered Saturday but didn't get in till yesterday. I dismantled the old tank last night cleaned the waterfall feature and all the rock and put it all together. Not exactly sure I'm happy with it but it will due for now I guess. I was a little short on the river rock that I put under the waterfall to raise it up to get more water in the tank. I can always add more later. I need to pick up some taller plants as well. Also I'm going to install some drapes to hide the open area under the stand. Still a work in progress. Also I'm aware the waterfall will have to come out once Squirt starts putting on some length and I need to put something under the lights in case the clamps fail and they fall. I'm thinking of picking up some egg crate to put under the lights. However Squirt seems to be happy with all the extra swimming/diving room he has now :D .

Yep that was his spot to sleep when I had this set up in the 20 gallon tank. I've noticed the last 2 nights he sleeps hanging onto the plant in the front left corner of the tank. I picked up the eggcrate and cut it to size to fit over half the tank where the lights are as a safety precaution and some taller plants to go in the deep end so he has something to hold onto while he is in the current of the waterfall and filter. He had no problem eating his lettuce and pellets last night. I think its safe to say he likes his new tank. :)
