Looks good!

I realize from your other post that the decoration is used as a basking area, but if you can fill the water up more, I'd do so. Also, with that many rocks, don't you have a cleaning nightmare?

It looks like there is screen between your light and basking area...based on the reflection in the second picture. Just make sure the slots are greater than 1/2 inch, or it will filter the UVB.

It's not too bad for cleaning... GRAVEL was a nightmare, but the rocks are much easier. I rinse them with hot water until they run clean.

What do you use?

I have the rocks like you do, but just a hand full. I also have some larger pieces of rock, but a big chunk of it is bare.

That is an awesome basking area! Very creative! Does go back down the right way? I would be scared he would dive over the side! Very cute! :)

It is a nice basking area but the rocks make me nervous. Aren't you afraid the turtle might eventually start digging and collapse his basking area? (They are famous for redecorating! :) ) I'd also be concerned with cleaning, like Missi said. How often do you clean the tank? I would think turtle waste can get caught in the rocks which means you have to remove all of them when cleaning the tank, even for only partial water changes?

Maybe you could fashion a basking area to put behind the decor without needing so many rocks. It would still look cool and it'd be a great way to hid the basking area without all the trouble with cleaning. Just an idea.

With my new 80 gallon tank the colloseum is for hiding, the tank is just to tall to stack rocks...
