Althought that picture is nice. it's not realistic.. The turtle won't eat that fish because it can't out of the water.. :)

Whoa, that just popped out of my screen!

Even if it can't swallow it or it would have a hard time swallowing it, that doesn't mean it won't try if it's close to the water.

yeah, this pic definetely has been fixed up, colors are way bright and this pic is way sharp... I like it because you can see the tongue... look at the neck though.. you really cant see the "overlap" of skin.. and this turt's neck isnt fully extended...

Actually, this is something I have done in the past to keep my fingers from getting snapped! I learned the hard way.....Sheba has latched onto me before. Having an 11 inch turtle latch on to your finger/hand/arm is NOT fun so often times putting the food on the floor, letting her snap it, & then putting Sheba in the water where she can eat it....well, that works out great. Once she's done snapping, things are fine! Sometimes I put a treat (like a blueberry) on her dry dock for her to come get. She snaps it & drags it into the water where she eats it.

Sheba doesn't like to be picked up. So when I feed her, I take her out of the tank, put her on a towel to dry her off, then let her follow me into the kitchen, where I put her into a laundry pan with water in it. That's where I feed her. Sometimes for fun, I will take a small fish (like in the picture, hold it up to her nose & watch how she runs after me to get that fish! It's like leading a donkey with a carrot and it is so cute. Someday I will post a video when I get a chance.

hahaha.. that's just too cute.. :)

yes I use to put food on my turtles dock but they'd have to drag it back in the water to be eaten, which is what I meant by my comment.

Kristin, your Sheba sounds like a real hoot!
