As you all know, I have had little Siobhan for about 10 days now and so far he/she is doing very well! This little baby eats like a pig (2 reptomin sticks daily) & nibbles on his cuttlebone (the cuttle is getting smaller & smaller by all the little turtlemouth-shaped nips in it!) & has completely devoured/shredded the lovely green plant I put in his tank. This is (sadly) all that's left:
I've been struggling to get pics of Siobhan in the tank (they usually turn out blurry) so I took baby out to show you how his shell is growing well:
And of course, I am still very proud of my orchid which is loving all the wonderful humidity from Siobhan's tank:

He's just beautiful... looks like you're doing a great job. And I love the orchid as well.

Just a word of caution about anacharis. Some stores sell them with little rubber bands wrapped around the bottom.....I'd remove it, just in case. My guys never bothered with the little metal sinker though......

Thanks grey goose! I'll keep that in mind for future purchases. The anacharis in the picture is going to get tossed today.

Industrial, looking very good! Glad to see that your lil one is doing very well!
As far as the anacharis goes, in my new tank once its up,i'm going to have an anacharis jungle...
How come you toss your anachris? I've held onto mine that was in my turtle tank (true i have a strand or two left) but now it's in my guppie tank with my flourishing Java Fern, and my amazon sward which needs more CO2 to grow optimally.

Thanks Muirner!
I am going to toss that piece of anacharis because it is really pitiful-looking....all the leaves have been gnawed off from the turtle wreaking havoc on it daily. I don't have any additional tanks where the plant can recover since all my tanks have turtles in them.

I'm just going to have to buy a new sprig of it.
On another note, I went home at lunch today to see a 1 1/2 inch oval wet spot on Siobhan's (normally dry) basking area (!). So the little bugger has been under the UV lamps, even if it was only for a short time. I may not have *caught* him actually ON the basking area, but the fact that there is a wet spot there means that he is definitely checking it out & getting fully out of the water to do it.

Thanks! Since he munched the anacharis plant, there was no green stuff for him to nibble on so I tossed in some romaine lettuce yesterday & today and it has completely disappeared both days.
So far so good. I am a happy, proud mama!
