I can't even believe it...

My mom came in my room the other day (which she rarely does) and was like "OMG!! HE'S HUGE!!!" and I was like "Mom, he hasn't grown THAT much!" I guess because I see him every day and watch him grow daily it doesn't seem as extreme as it does to people (like my mom) who don't! So here is my comparison... it's ridiculous!!

Image
the first day i brought him home!

Image
soon after I got him- half superman styling it!

Image
Leo a few weeks ago on the same dock as in the second picture... I ended up having to upgrade to a medium zoomed dock because he was tipping the small!!

i can't believe it!! i'm new to all of this as you all well know... is he growing at a healthy rate? (time frame between pic #2 and pic #3- about 5 months!)

What's his SCL now?

People who haven't seen Tilly in a while frequently comment on how big he's getting when he hasn't change that much at all since they've seen him last (they always have a mental image of him when he was smaller).

straight carapace length (measuring the carapace without including the curve of the shell)

ooo...i'm not really sure!! I can measure him when I get home this afternoon! If you look at how big he is in the palm of Brandon's hand in the first picture- he's a tiny bit smaller then the size of Brandon's palm now! ??? I hope he isn't growing too fast... as far as I can tell he isn't pyramiding! I feed him pellets, romaine, feeder fish, and cuttlebone! (the basics) :P

p.s. marisa- how old and how big is Tilly?

I took a few updated pics of Leo today on my phone (not the best quality) and measured him as well! I think he may be a bit big for his age- I got him on September 19th as a little, tiny, green baby and now he's this big just 5 months later! >_< In the one picture that was taken from above to show the measurments- his spine looks extremely protruded- but it seems the fact that his shell was wet and the way the light was hitting it exaggerated it because it doesn't normally look like that! I had posted before about him possibly retaining scutes, could that be pyramiding instead? I'm not sure if you can tell anything from the pics! I want to make sure my baby is growing at a healthy rate! He really has gotten huuuge!!

a little over 3 inches...??

He's about the same size as my little nippers. They were born May 1 2006, but they were also ill for a month. The bigger one is about 3.5, the smaller 3.2. They seem huge to me too!

Both our babies really have gotten so big! :) Your little ones are so cute, scripta! is it bad that your turtles are almost 3 months older then Leo and he's about their same size? I know you said they were sick for awhile, would that make any difference?

My turtles grew fast too...I heard to late that is was too fast...but I have been slowing down their food intake and amount...Good luck. Mine are 14 months old and they are about 5.5 inches. In November I learned I was feeding them too much and too many times and They were 4.5 inches then...they have grown one inch sinse then. Still fast but not as fast...I guess.

if the shell isnt showing signs of pyramiding then i'd say your on a healthy track.
