had a bit of a surplus in the bank acct. so i got a couple things for the tank.

on the left you will see a colourful pagoda that matches one of my little pots. it's got holes in that are too big for the turts' heads, but just big enough for a rosie red to get into. you will also the small cup in the corner that has new plants in it. those are real :)

here you can see that green kitchen stuff i bought for the basking spot. it was a floaty thing in the tank, but it sunk. so i used it to pad between the clear vase and the tank. it's easy to clean, too, just rinse and wring. i also put the seashells here to pretty it up a bit.

Image

i also recognised a flaw in my basking area, and that was the fact that the cart had holes in the bottom, the kitchen contact also had holes. the filter helps hold it up, and since it's a waterfall filter... well you know. so i bought some reptile carpet so they could get their shells totally dry.

i also decided to hang on to the dock. i put it under the turtle ramp, it keeps it at an angle that's not so steep, and it makes it easy for them to get up there. they like to hang on it.

i also bought a python yay *claps hands* it's not a fancy one, just has a 6' hose, but it made cleaning up the tank soooooooo easy and quick! is fantastic.

i also managed to catch a video of my rosie red.

when i get paid next week i'm going to get some more live aquarium plants and put them in the middle of the tank. give the turts something to snack on and the fish something to hide in :)

Looks great! I love your tank, it's fun with lots of nice decorations but still easy to clean. It's hard to get that balance and i think you did a lovely job. And you gotta love the Petsmart basking area!

The decorations are nice, are you sure nothing is too sharp? or can be broken (like the sea shells) and then eaten?

the seashell ends are blunt, and they don't break easily. i've actually had them in there for a couple months. the turts have tried eating them a couple times, but couldn't break them up.

the baskets at my dollar store are *slightly* bigger than that basket. you could always go to h.e.b. they've got the exact same baskets just with a different logo.

the seashells actually aren't as loud as the aquarium rocks. i guess because there's not as much of a flat surface so there's not as much there to make noise. i think it's cute when they move them around though :) yeah i'll admit i'm obsessed with my turtles. at least it's a productive obsession, though :)

so far they're ignoring the plants. my aim is to get the silk plants out and replace them the real ones. they like to nip at the silk plants all the time, but still don't touch the real ones. oh well, it's only been a couple days.
