Well I finally made a above tank basking area. I measured and bought everything and my dad helped me drill holes in the plexi-glass and put all the pieces together. I think that she is really enjoying the extra space in the tank and out.


I put lines of hot glue on the ramp and basking area so she would have something to grip so she could move around easily. Now all I need to do is get a back ground for the tank and basking area.

Wow that must have taken alot of work and im sure your turtle will appreciate all the swimming room. it looks great.

It's hard to see in the pictures, but I'm guessing you have plexi across the front like Breigh's? That's what I'm hoping to do. What kind of wood did you use? How much did it cost overall?

Very nice, but be careful with those hot glue grip lines, your turtle might try to eat them.

I think that all together it came up to around 30 bucks. I just bought the cheapest wood, I’m not sure what kind, but it was 8 dollars. The plexi-glass was I think 20 bucks; I had to have someone cut it for me. Do not try to cut it yourself it will just be a disaster, it was for me anyways. Home Depot sold me this stupid little knife thing and I ended up breaking some of my plexi-glass. So I went over to Lowes and they cut it for me, for free too. It wasn’t hard to put together at all. I think that we spent a maximum 15-20minutes. It was probably easy to put together because my dad already had all the tools and new how to use them properly.

I’ll keep an eye out for that. But she’s just one of those turtles that don’t really bite stuff if it isn’t food.

Did you get the plexiglass at Home Depot? I could some to prevent a recurrence of my turtle exploring the kitchen when i'm not home.

Great idea! I'm just making sure because I can't see the details of the picture so well, but there's something covering the front of the basking area so the turtle can't fall right?

I'm pretty sure there is something to cover the front. But what I wanted to ask was if there was a UVB light in addition to a heat lamp ( cant tell if that light is a UVB, or UVA light) or is it a combo bulb?

Yep I got the plexi-glass from Home Depot. LOL yes there is a long sheet of plexi-glass that goes down the entire length and height of the wood. There is a heat bulb, I'm in the process of replacing her old UVA/UVB bulb, so don't worry.
