Hehe..thanx guys! Tobi HAS seen the baby and wasnt too interested. The pic above was the 2nd time she saw him...in HIS tank this time. I held him over hers the 1st meeting. She just looked at him....:)

Tobi is 4 years old. She is almost 10" long, 7.5" wide and about 4 pounds! She was only a quarter when I got her :( I miss that baby..but I wuv my big girl!

The "fluttering" pic is showing what I questioned on here a few days ago, whether only boys do it, and if I had a he/she? But I was told that since Tobi sees herself in reflection of the tank wall, that it is a territorial thing?! She sure looks funny doing it!

Thanks David and Ind Girl :):):):)

hey camee, great pics!..

when you say that your turt is "fluttering"...is it moving its hands back and forth next to its head really quick?..i have learned a special little trick i do with my turtle, and he does that thing with his hands next to his head every time!..lol..

what do you think makes them do this?..is it some sort of defense mechanism?..

Tobi is really beautiful. She must be a joy to have around the house.

And Twoster, what you're describing is fluttering, and it can mean different things. Males flutter in the females' faces during courtship. Also, fluttering can be an indication of aggression, as when turtles are feeling territorial. If two turtles in a tank start fluttering at each other, I would be concerned that they were about to start fighting - or, if it's a male and female, about to do something else!

It's really cute, isn't it. Turtles that live alone, especially males, will pick out some substitute for a turtle and flutter at it. My turtle Spot has a favorite rock in his tank - it's dark with light colored stripes - and he flutters at it all the time. I think it's love! So....maybe your turtle is in love with you?!?

So glad to see other BIG girls out there like Sheba!!! :)

How's Tobi's personality? Does she like to roam the house or beg to be let out of the tank yet? She's big enough where you should be able to get her to follow you around. :)

Thanks!

And Twoster: What Spotsmama said! (About the fluttering)....

I dont think she is in love with me...since it is HER reflection she sees daily in the back of the tank :) It is really cute though. Sure gives her personality!

Ind Girl: She dont really beg to get out of the tank yet. She sorta just hangs on her plants...looking bored and I know its time to let her "wander". She follows me occasionally. In the kitchen, but in the living room, its EXPLORING time! She is everywhere! :) She sure DOES see me as the "big head"...always wanting a treat when Im near. And OMG when the camera is near, she is swimming into the front of the tank until I leave! She loves something about it and the flash seems not to bother her at ALL! :)

I think she is beautiful too! And so unique. Her habits, personality and look. (Still no greens yet...but working on that!)

And little Leo is so sweet, basking almost all day unless there is food around. He is pretty chill. :)

Thanks Teno and Goose! :)
