were moving in 3 days do i transfer peanut in a container with a damp towel and a dry one? He is going to wait at least 5 hours before he can go into his tank again b/c of all the stuff that needs to be transfered first(its a big house).

I don't think it's necessary to use a damp towel. However, could you put him in a bowl of water from time to time to rehydrate?

im not sure about newspaper because my peanut might get dirty from the ink on it. so i guess i'll be using a towel then.....

okay now im starting to get mad. My dad says that he is thinking about whether to take peanut or not. And he wants me to do it all by myself if i really want to take Peanut with me. Some "father" I hate him! If he really means it i won't leave the house until Peanut goes with me!!

Wow... when I moved I did everything myself...I got a small plastic ccontainer with some wet tissue paper inside and plastic wrapped the top and poked holes in it and carried her and her 10 gallon tank by myself to the top floor.

i would do that too but you see my tank is 46 gallons and even without the water in ti it would still be too heavy for me im only 13 (going to be 14 soon) And i dont think i can lift up a 46 gal tank all by myself.

Wouldn't the movers help you move the aquarium? Are you sure your dad isn't just joking? My dad used to say stuff like that ALL the time but he never really meant it

I'm sure if you got everything ready to move you could ask for help moving something as heavy as the tank. Moving is a stressful time so I'm sure everyone's a little on edge, I know I always get snappy when there is so much to do with so little time. Just make sure you have everything set out to keep Peanut in when you move and it will be fine. It's not possible to leave a pet behind, I'm sure your dad realizes that.

Just a suggestion, if you're using a clear container to transport Peanut in, I would through a blanket over it so that it's dark. That way will be way less stressful. I would also suggest using a dry towel. Peanut will burrow into it during the move.

I wish that was true... my mother-in-law rents out a few houses and while we were cleaning one after the renters left we found two hamsters in their cage with no food and no water in the bathroom. It's horrible that people think they can just abandon their pets when they move and leave them to be someone else's problem. Luckily the neighbors adopted the two little guys, but needless to say, the renters didn't get their deposit back (it was a no-pet lease)

I'm glad to hear those renters got stuck with something (no deposit). It stuns me how some people can just turn their backs on something that was a pet. The neighbors sound like really nice people.

People move away and abandon their cats all the time. That's how we got our previous cat. We started to notice him around the neighborhood getting thinner and thinner. He kind of moved in with us and, though he was terribly sick at first for months, he finally pulled through and had a good life. After he moved in with us the neighbor kids told us his people had just moved away and didn't take him with them.

It's such a shame, why not just take them to the local animal shelter before leaving? I could never just abandon an animal, I'd have that on my conscience forever, worrying what had happened to it.

okay heres the story: I begged and begged and begged and begged and i even told him that i won't leave the house if peanut doesn't come with me so he finally said yes. Peanut is in the family room because he is a part of our family too. I will post up pictures once the wirless internet runs faster, stupid cable.

Oh and my grandparents are going to move into my old house so thats why he didn't want to bring peanut, he wanted peanut to stay and let my grandparents take care of him.(Even though they know nothing about turtle care)
