Hullo. I've been lurking around the forums for sometime now but never got around to introducing myself.

I noticed just recently that my turtles have been nibbling at their poop. Is this normal?

I have two RES. I have a fat, 11-year-old male named Sam.


And a spunky 7-month-female named Geoffrey. (obviously, I thought she was a he) :p


And they both love their watermelon. :p

Gross, but totally normal.

Yeah, it happens.

mine since they live in a semi-pond now they are bitting their poop but they dont eat it..
they preffer to bite and chew plastic fake plants till i found out and placed them higher..
after all each one has its own personality

Welcome to the forum. Are the turtles in the same tank together? If so, that's an awfully big size difference and the baby would be better off in a separate set-up. (If they are separated, that's great.)

At 7 months, you can't tell whether Geoffrey is male or female. When Geoffrey's shell is about 4 inches in length, you'll be able to.

And, yes, they'll eat their poop, some more so than others.
