I get my exotics from private breeders that I frequently volunteer with and reptile centers. As for my res, they are from the wild.

I got mine from a pet store, but we don't have the 4 inch law here.

Can I ask what made you take them from the wild? Were they injured?

Yes, near death. I actually reconsidered bringing them back to the lake but my vet suggested it was too much of a risk. So here they are.

I'm sad to say that mine came from the mall without a four inch law. Actually, I should say that there is a four inch law, they just have their way around it. I bought the container (a death bowl) and the turts were free. If it weren't for this site, they would still be in the death bowl.

I wasn't sure which one to choose as I got mine from a pet store that had the 4" law posted but did nothing to ensure it. So I put down the pet store.

Just an fyi, "Reptile Centers, shows" can sell under 4" because they are selling to hobbyists, and are not selling them as "pets"

Pet stores, especially small ones, are occasionally ignorant of laws and regulations. And the law only applies to the US.

Thanks for that. I have several reptile centres here and they all regulate the 4 inch law. There aren't many shows around here but I plan to visit CTTC (Cali Turtle and Tortoise Club) as well as Daytona's Reptile Expo
Here in LI, they have the Long Island Herp Society, doing a show in October.. they've got great herps but not many varieties of turts..
