My son has expressed interest in getting a lizard for his B-day. Guess he got jealous that I got my fire bellied toads for mine.

We wanted to get a Bearded Dragon but I'm not ready for the investment.

We decided we'll probably get either an Anole or a Crocodile Gecko. I had an anole when I was a kid and remember it being pretty east to take care of, but that was a long time ago. Both are inexpensive do not get too large.

Anyone have one or be able to offer some advise?

I'm at work all night and have very limited Internet access other wise I would search around. Besides... I trust This forum

I had an anole in my sixth grade class. They are very interesting, the entire class was shocked when we saw the red throat expand.
One bad memory about it is that there were heavy vegetation in the tank as well as crickets and snails. We got to see crickets heads and left over snails.

Soon to be 6. We originally were wanting one he could handle which was one reason for looking at beardies, but decided on something more simple to take care of and less expensive. Handling would be a plus but not a necessity.

I'm content to observe from the outside, and my son would like hold till it pooped on him. then he may second thoughts for a while he's kind of a germ phobe

I had several anoles years ago. They are pretty easy to care for, although mine died way too early because I was only 12 and went by whatever info the pet store gave me.

They're quick lil buggers tho, so if he's going to handle them, I suggest you stay close by.

In an email, I suggested a leopard gecko, as they're able to be handled and a good starter "lizard".

Well I decided to break down and get the Bearded Dragon. I've always wanted one and since I had to buy most of the same stuff anyway I said "hey... whats another 50 bucks"

His name is Frank. I don't know his age but Petco said he been there since they opened, about 7 months. All the employees were sad to see him/her go but happy he was finaly getting adopted.

As to the .. What's another $50 bucks.. LOL don't even go there. I think I should have them post a sign up at PetSmart to not allow me in there!!!

Aw, such a beauty. I love beardies as well, once took care of a two headed beardie. It passed away after about a year.

Yep he's my son. He loves animals he really wants a snake but his mamma is scared to death of them.

We'll keep working her down though. They had a steal of a deal on a baby ball python. $44.99 you should have seen us begging the mom.

With beardies, pythons are also one of my favorites. I have about six green tree pythons (the ones that loop) juveniles that hatched late august.

We're hoping for President of the USA, we really need that nest egg.

He's concentrating mostly on not moving his arm so as not to scare him. He'd been holding him for about 10min without resting his hands on his legs, they were getting kinda shaky. My wife and I were replacing the alfalfa pellets with reptile carpet.
