he is very cute, and thanks for sizing those pics down, it was hard to see.

i'm not sure anything about those, they look very soft, and look as if they wouldnt be protected as well in the wild, as some of the parts (legs arms, head) look like they dont go fully in the shell. Thats all i have :P

That is very unusual coloring on the plastron. What site did you get the info from?

im only fourteen i know alot about turtles (not realy this breed) and one day i just went to a show and i saw one and thought they were cool. so i told the chameleon breeder that lives down the street and i help him that i saw that breed and if he could ask him other breeder friends how much he would coast. so i went there to help one day and he just gave me him. thats one of the many cool things you get for helping a breeder with connections (FREE REPTILES!) lol

Then I'd contact the breeder that breeds them (or get the one you help to ask the other breeder) and find out exactly what the little thing needs for a good home in addition to reading about them from the links given. You should be able to get some useful info from the breeder.

5.) Red-bellied Short-neck - Emydura subglobosa (a.k.a. Pink-bellied Short-neck)

Description: Standard slider forum-factor only the carapace is grey to black, the plastron yellowish with reddish trim, & the head dark with a yellow stripe behind & over the eye. Care like a slider except warmer water. Basking varies amongst individuals & some seldom do but the option should be there. Omnivorous. Native to Australia & New Guinea. Recommend at least a 75 gallon tank. Size: Up to 10" SCL.

Pro.s: Quite attractive. Hardy but need warm water. Similar form & care to the familiar RES. Captive-bred readily available. Prolific.

Con.s: Tropical - do not hibernate. Gurley1 noted males tend to be aggressive to unreceptive females & smaller turtles. In Practical Encyclopedia of Keeping & Breeding Tortoises & Freshwater Turtles (Page 168) Highfield2 states the genus is susceptible to skin & shell infections if subjected to poor water quality. Turtle Pimp reported prone to skin fungus if they don't bask enough. Imports should be deparasitized.

Availability & Cost: Common at online vendors & larger expo.s. Hatchings ~ $50.

Known Legalities: None known in U.S.

Helpful Care Resources: ATP Care Sheet, California Turtle & Tortoise Club Care Sheet, TurtlePuddle's Care Sheet, World Chelonian Trust's Photo Gallery.

So you know from that, that he needs space (good-sized tank), maybe a submersible water heater depending on the temp where you are (you need to find out how warm that warmer water should be), clean water (a good filter), and a basking area with correct lighting for starters.

ya i wanted to get a nice 20 gal tank starter kit that had all that but i am also wondering if that turt and my 1 inch turt could both live. because my 1 inch res is very aggeressive since i been feeding him rosy reds.
