Hello!
Nowadays i was wondering if turtles can remember something.
For example, does my turtle know who i am?
can he recognize me?

i'm curious of that and i can't wait receiving your reply!

Greetings for all the owners of these amazing pets :)

They do recognize people and colors, though probably not more than associating us with food :)

I believe turtles can retain large amounts of information unlike some reptiles such as most snakes and stuff. The only snakes I think that can retain loads of information are Reticulated and Burmese Pythons out of most the snakes. Reticulated Pythons are CRAZY Smart and can solve problems. as for RES, they can learn tricks like following someone, or going to a spot in a house that the person trains them to go to..stuff like that. I seen a video on youtube of a lady with a RES that had her res on the floor and if she called it it would go to her, climb up her leg, ontop her chest and just sit there as if it really enjoyed the company. Im sure you have to start them off really young and give them lots of attention tho to get them to this point. I even seen a large catfish on youtube that loved to be petted like a dog. the person would put there hands in the water and the catfish would rub up against the hand JUST like a cat would...its CRAZY. if you want me to post the video leme know. its really neat.

My turtle (about 20-25 years old) has a very good memory. He can tell which human is in front of him, when he’s fed, the relative layout of the house outside his habitat and favorite television shows. Though, I think the last is the amount of people talking to him. He can remember specific obstacles and can tell if something has changed since his last lap around the house or outside.

What are his favorite shows? I do think they have a great sense of time, and they seem to like a schedule. And welcome to the forum!
