OK,this is so sad.Here's the story.I'm going on vacation in late June,and I'm leaving Vien with someone to take care of her while I'm gone,and I'm even paying money.So,this one girl,overheard me talking to my best friend about it and was like You're paying someone money to babysit your turtle,if it was me,I'll just let her die,and then get a new one.I am very sensitive when people talk trash about Vien,so off course I got angry,and started screaming at her.Now Vien needs to know that you guys love her.

People make fun of me because apparently I talk like Veronica is a person. People don't see turtles as loveable pets like dogs and cats.

Obviously they've never been around a turtle. They don't know how incredibly loveable they are.

I know,they think that you can treat turtles bad,just because they're small animals.I don't hate people until they reaaly get on my nerves,it usually takes at least 2 months,but this girl,ugghhh,just wanted to smack her.

P.S. Don't feel bad,we probably all talk to our turtles on here like we would talk to a human

A lot of people see reptiles as being disposable because they're not warm and fuzzy. To each his own. Personally, I don't see how a dog's life is any more important than that of a lizard or turtle but that's just me. I try not to get into conversations with people like that because I know what the end result will be.

Just thank God that he's your turtle and not hers.

i get made fun of all the time for liking reefs, turtles, herps. Liking that stuff officially gets you put into the --- category at my school...but they all are ---, i could care less. Just ignore the people who hate you and look more towards the people who care. They are the ones who mean something.

So, when she gets a kid, is she going to just let it die and get a new one?

Same here, when my fish died (Patrolman) I cried for a while and my dad said, It's just a fish.....I was like..Just a fish? He's been with me through my freshman year at college, when I got deathly ill, he was my first betta fish ever and my first fish in a long long time. I shared a lot of time with him.

Even today when Snowflake died I cried for a while because I had grown attached to her and I wanted her to live so much and I could tell from the way she was fighting when I had her that she wanted to live, it was as if she understood that I wanted to help her.

And Michelangelo is my baby and I talk about him a lot. I don't have kids, and there is a chance that I may not be able to (never been tested as I'm not married or currently have a boyfriend so it doesn't really matter at this point in time) so my animals are my kids. And I love them dearly. That's why when I go on vacation (I don't really anymore..too many animals) I would leave my fish with the neighbor kids (they loved them, but they kinda overfed...) or my grandparents (my grandmother was like OH MY GOSH IT'S A FISH!!!!) The turtle has yet to be left with anyone and I don't know who I could really leave him with as it will be hard for anyone to just take care of him. Which is a big reason why I don't go on vacation anymore, I prefer to take care of my own animals.

I talk about Vien all the time too.My friends get so annoyed by it.They're like,you're overloving her,by buying her all that stuff and just talking to her all the time,and I'm like,well,sorry if I love my child!I really have to go to Ukraine though,it's my homecountry,and I haven't been there for 3 years,and I haven't seen my grandpa in 3 years,so I'm just getting really home sick,and I really miss my family and friends.

I took a pet mouse on vacation to San Diego once... an 8 hour car ride each way and 4 days living in a hotel closet was probably not a great vacation for him... but I didn't have anyone to take care of him.
My in-laws take their dog everywhere. If they can't take her, we have to stay at their house, which means packing up our cats and they stay there, too.
I email people pictures of my turtle. It's only fair, they email me pictures of their kids.

Elliot, I know this is not the place to be pointing something like this out but I do take offense to "...but they all are ---".

one summer all my family members went back to my country(I went back before they do) so my mom and my brother drove about 2 hours and met with my boyfriend at a place so they could leave him my turtle, my brother even paid him $30 for gas money. I'm just glad that all my family took care of my turtle dearly, especially my mom, she loves him as if her own grandson, my dad even got jealous over my turtle several times
