My Escape Artist...
Petri climbed out of his tank today...
I got home from work and went to check on him and he was gone. I had to call my husband over to look, thinking... I don't know. That I was blind, maybe. We were both freaking out, but we found him after about 5 minutes.
I don't know how long he was out, but he was very dry and covered in cat hair. He was hiding in some paper grocery bags that the cats sleep in, about 4 feet from the tank.
Luckily he was unharmed. When my husband put him in the water, I thought he was dead... but he swished him around a little and he perked right back up.
He's still got a few bits of cat hair on him, but he ate his dinner and he's swimming around.
I built a little cardboard fence around where his basking area is, so hopefully this won't happen again.
It makes me just a little more anxious to get a new, bigger tank so I can build my over-the-tank basking area.
