Friends for Penny

I almost posted this in feeding and nutrition. We've had Albert the Chinese algae eater in the tank with Penny for awhile, and she never showed much interest in him. So with a little persuading by my daughter, I got Penny a couple more friends in anticipation of her moving into much larger living quarters in the next couple of months. Well let's say they all have gotten quite the workout since I introduced them. I have a feeling they are going to be "food" not "friends".

Most fish do become food but not all. I have 3 large goldfisn 2 chinese algae eaters and 2 wild perch in my tank. The key is size or speed! Yea,your turtle will most likely eat those!

Albert is living up to his aggressive reputation. He doesn't seem to like the Molly at all.

Surprisingly, the new fish are still with us. Whatever initial interest Penny had in them she seems to have gotten over, or they don't seem threatened by her. She swims up to them but doesn't seem interested in eating them. Albert the algae-eater seems to appreciate the company, he's much more active now than he had been. He used to just hide under the basking rock. now I catch him all over the tank swimming around.
