some please help me!!! im not exactly sure how/ where to get rid of my turle, help anyone? :(

Please give us some more details regarding why you can no longer care for your turtle.

A turtle is a very long term commitment that many people do not consider before getting into. I've seen various studies show they can live any where between 25-30 years and others that say they can live upwards of 50 years. Although I don't know which is more accurate, it does show that one must be prepared to care for these wonderful creatures for many decades.

What ever you decide, do not release him into the wild. This is never a good alternative and is very frowned upon. It can kill a captive turtle that can not adjust to living and caring for themselves, and it also can affect the natural wildlife in the area by introducing a foreign species into their habitat.

If you must get rid of him, find an adoptive home for him that can provide the appropriate care he needs... or find a turtle rescue center to take him.

You should be the one to determine whether or not you keep your turtle. If you have the time, resources and commitment to be a responsible pet owner, then there really in no question. If you know you can't keep the turtle, the only option is to find a rescue or re-homing organization to take it.

I can't believe you're expecting people to make this decision for you...

Give it to someone who will care for it. Pets are a responsibility, even if you are not prepared for it, you should bear it. Find someone who can take care of it and is willing to put up with the time and effort that is required to care for these creatures.

Ask people here from this forum who might be willing to adopt another turtle. Post it up. Your location would be needed then. So post details like pics, size and whatnot. I dont think you'll have that much trouble posting those details and finding an adoptive pet owner.

Now I know no one has posted recently but honestly, i really think that you should make the desicion for yourself. How long have you had your turtle for? Did you do any research before you got them? Sorry, I may seem like I'm attacking you, but a turtle is definetely a long-term commitment.

i agree strongly with what everyone else said. ANY pet is a long term commitment that you make when you get it.
do you have a reason that you dont want the turtle anymore?
how long have you had him/her for?
you can't just "get rid of it" like that
if you let it go in the wild, it will probly die... turtles that have been kept as pets do not know how to survive in the wild on their own.
you need to find someone to adopt your turtle who can care for it properly if you are unable to do so......
its not a toy u can just throw away...
this is a decision that u need to make for yourself....

Get rid of it? No, you should not keep your turtle. But don't just let him go or anything remotely like that. Do some research and find him a good home.

i wonder what happened to the turtle???

If we got through to him, he'd grow a sense of responsibility for the animal and keep it and care for it. Most likely the turt is now in a dumpster or river somewhere. He just asked everyone in the forum on how to get rid of it then poof. I'm thinking that he is the ninja and not his turt.

But seriously, turts are harder to care for than what most people are led to believe. So I guess that's the main reason people just abandon them. Oh well...
