From alot of the posts and pictures I have noticed lots of very tiny turtles. If they are illegal to buy under 4inches were do you all get them from? Just curious.

I got them from a pet shop, and I went to another pet shop and they had tiny turtles too, they're everywhere.
That's why I've also been wondering about that under 4inch law... how does that work if they're selling them in pet shops everywhere?

At least in the U.S., it's officially illegal to sell a turtle with a shell length of less than 4 inches. You won't see small turtles being sold in places like Petco, for example. But, like with everything, there are ways around that, and people/less than honorable pet shops take advantage of that.

I'm guessing it might just be in the U.S. then? all the pet stores i've been to ONLY have small 1 inch turtles to sell. the bigger mature turtles are usually for display like in the pet store's pond

I live in Central Florida... In my local Petsmart, they only sell larger turtles... When you buy these turtles an adult, over 18, must sign a form... I don't remeber what the form said now... At the time I bought my smaller turtle, they also had baby Alligators in there... The last time I was in the store, about a month ago, you could buy baby skunks... So this store is more of an exotic store then a pet store...

The form probably said that you were using the turtle for educational or research purposes. That is the most common way to get around that law in the US.

Yeah they have the tiny ones everywhere here.
When I got my guys they were about the size of a quarter and I didn't have to sign anything or tell them it was for educational purposes. Although there was a sign that said something about the educational thing. But the guy didn't say anything. I said "two please" and he put them in dixie cups and that was it. Crazy I know.

Topic locked. Discussing where to illegally purchase turtles, even indirectly, is not permitted. Sorry if you had a post edited or deleted but this has been board policy from the beginning. Thanks for understanding and PM me if you have questions.
