Ok, I just notices that my turtles are very hanky panky lately. Kaylee (the bigger turtle) seems to be nippng at or fighting Kobe. She's been doing it constantly since I came home today and I'm afraid to leave them alone now that I'm leavign the house for a couple hours. This is new behavior, anyone ever noticed this before? What did you do about it :?:

They are a little too small to be trying to mate. The mating dance usually consists of the male fluttering his long claws in the face of the female. I haven't heard of there being any biting or nipping involved in this.

This sounds more like incompatibility or aggression. If it gets to the point where there is biting, they may need to be separated into their own setups permanently.

What is their tank size again? Sometimes too small of space can cause aggression. Other times it's just an incompatibility issue between the turtles personalities.

Well they just moved from a smaller tank into a 30 gallon tank this weekend...so they have more space than they had for the past 4 months. I placed Kaylee into the smaller tank while i went tot he movies..I dont know why she got like that, she even snapped at me when I was taking her out the tank...she Never did that before. I still have her in time out..in the smaller tank. She's trying to get up on a river rock to bask...I'm going to put her back in In a little while. What do you suggest?

Keep a close eye on them when you can and if it gets worse you may have to permanently separate them. Be sure there are plants and such in the tank to block their line of sight so they can have some private time with out seeing each other and it may help some.

Well i placed her back in for the past three hours ndkept an eye on them, they seem to be ok now.....for now. There is a log wherre they hid and another rock formation they can go under..so there is space. I have to find some living plants in there with them. What suggestions do you have?
