Thunderstorm

Last night around dusk we had a thunderstorm. The rain was very heavy, there was some wind, lightening and thunder but no hail. My RES Spot lives outside in a pond. I usually bring him in when it storms but this time I left him out. I thought he might find it interesting because he seems to like it when our sprinkler system runs and he gets a gentle "rain" on his pond.

Spot reveled in the storm. He climbed up on his basking rock and held his head high. Sometimes he'd get down and swim around, the raindrops crashing all around him, again with his head held high. He seemed to be celebrating his wild heritage. I could imagine his Triassic ancestors doing the same.

My female RES had the opposite reaction to her first storm. She was indoors and she tucked in and refused to come out from under her basking area. :)

My turtle loves the thunder when ever we have a storm he just goes up on his basking rock and just looks out the window. i think he likes it more when its storming then when its not.

I'm wondering if Spot likes the smell of the fresh rain coming down on him and that's why he enjoyed it so much... :)
I love a good thunderstorm, and the smell when it's over is refreshing too.

Fresh rain nourishes the soul as well as the earth. I find thunderstorms both exhilarating and scary!

I know what you mean. Being a little scared of them is what makes them fun, like a rollercoaster, lol.
