Living on a ranch where we are currently smack in the middle pear season, picking, packing and shipping (and eating!), we have many Mexican workers everywhere so here's a few suggestions:

Boys:

Mauricio
Rafael
Ysidro
Francisco
Juan
Ricardo
Jose' (Jos"b") justkidding.
Chilo (a popular nickname)
Orlando
Gerardo
Julio
Alexandro

Girls:

Gema
Gerarda
Rosalia
Laticia
Paula
Alexandra
Carla
Blanca

Ummm, can't think of many more at the moment. Will probably later if more suggestions are needed!

TT

You may want to wait until you get the turtle to decide on a name. One thing I've learned in the many years of owning pets (dogs, cats, fish, gerbils, etc) is that within a day of having them, they show their personality and Poof! you end up with a name totally different from what you had planned.

I had a male cat years ago that I went crazy thinking of names before I got him. When I finally went to get him, he had a black circle around one of his eyes that reminded me of the dog in the Little Rascals. So, I named him Petey.

Oh boy, I wanna chime in on this one.

First - Many years ago before I met my husband, he had two RES - one named Shelly, the other Sarge. I never got the opportunity to meet them and do not know of their whereabouts today.

Secondly - When my second child was born, we practically had her name in stone up until the last day I was in the hospital (C-sec = 5 days) then we changed it totally. From Jaida to Natalie. Go figure.

Finally - One of our ranch cats - part tabby, part calico I think, has a name that reflects his markings. I've GOT to take a close-up pic of him. Anyway, he's absolutely beautiful and colorful especially on his nose - hence the name, "Booger". He knows his name well and responds lovingly.

Ironically I still haven't come up with a good name for my remaining RES 'Big Guy' who's very shy. I don't want BG nor Shy Guy either. Maybe Grumpy. I haven't given it much thought since Little Guy passed but we'll think of something. Good dinner conversation tonight maybe!!

Oh, speaking of dindin... gotta go.

Take a peek at this

http://www.centralpets.com/animals/rept ... r2628.html

It's a care sheet on the mata mata turtle.

They can weight up to 27 lbs and 18 inches at adulthood.

Must I say the answer? Just get a male red eared slider variation or albino if you want some different looking turtles in your tank.
