I don't think my turt likes me. Every time i go near his tank, he'll swim under a rock, quick. And when i put my hand in the tank, he'll swim fast under the rock, and try to be away from my hand.

How long have you had your turtle? I wouldn't take it personally. This is instinctive behavior on your turtle's part. It takes time for a turtle to become used to a person (and some never do as much as others). Some of my painteds will do the same, others won't.

It took my Adult Zeke a few days to get used to me. He wouldn't bask in front of me, etc, I think it is an instinctive, protective behavior, and it just takes time for them to get used to you. But each turtle is different, I have read where some turtles never adapt to being held etc....but turtles aren't really a 'cuddly wuddly' pet....more pets to be fascinated with and pets to watch and observe...at least that's what I've learned so far.

My Walnut freaked out evertime I walked in the room for about two years. But when I finally got her to a comfy, roomy, fancy new aquarium she was more than happy to see me.
If your turtle is comfortable AND s/he knows you and his/her surroundings then s/he will not avoid you.
Give it time! Remember you are a giant creature, distored through water and glass turtle's need time to adjust to seeing that tower over them.

If your turtle still seems skittish, you should give it more time to adjust. You need to have some patience...

Turtles can see us as "preditors" and they would react that way in the wild, its just instinct, it takes time for them to get used to us.
