Hi all,
I got my Turtle last August and I came to this site for help on taking care of him, and all you guys were great. I recently got a job that requires alot of traveling, basically I will never be home, I have thought about all my options and I think in the best interest of my turtle I feel it would be wise to find a loving and care home. I live in Port Chester, NY which is in between Greenwich, CT and Rye, NY in Westchester County. If anyone is interested please email me at donnamartin@optonline.net

Thanks
Donna

The sell critter carry boxes for shipping... You might want to call an internet store that sells turtles by mail and ask how it could be done?

How big is your turtle? I've currently got a 30g set up (which will be upgraded to 75g in the next few weeks) and am looking to adopt a turtle and I can easily get to Portchester. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to get anything bigger than 3 inches right now.

Here's instructions on how to ship a Red-Ear Slider, it's up to you which pet transporter you'd like to use. I reccomend next-day air or overnight so you're turtle isn't in the box for very long. Make sure that the someone is home all day the day the turtle is going to come. Finally, if it's airport to airport service call the airport for rules and regulations on pick ups.

I reccomend you try Delta Dash or Airborne Express.

If you put the turt into a plastic container for small ones with some wet paper towel, {a bigger one needs to be in an old pillow case}, and then into a box with balled newspaper...make it tight so they can't move good, then seal the box. Put "live harmless reptile" and "this way up" on all sides of the box. Take it to DHL or UPS and ship it. That's how I got my babies and the 9 incher. If it's hot out put an ice pack into the newspaper and if it's cold a heat pack. Ship ONLY NEXT DAY, costs more but what does that matter as long as it's not stuck in a box for that long. Warning though my 9 inch slider was $90 for next day from Massachutes to Florida and from Illinois to Florida for two 2 inchers it was $45.
