This is so cute I have to talk about it....

My RES escaped from his outdoor pond the other day. Long story there, won't happen again. We found out about it when my husband was in the den and heard a knocking at the back door (glass sliding door to the back yard). He went to the door, didn't see anything at first, then looked down....and there was Spot! Thumping thumping against the door, trying to get in!

We put him back in the pond. Then today, I took him out so he could crawl around in the back yard for awhile. Well, he made a bee line for that same glass sliding door. I opened the door for him, and into the house he crawled! He started exploring the kitchen. When he headed for the dog's bowl, I decided enough was enough and took him back outside.

Then I let him loose again....and, again, straight for the door he headed!

Someone said a RES has an excellent sense of direction. I agree. I think Spot knows exactly what he's doing. He wants to explore the house, and won't be content until he's allowed to!

Spot seems very smart. He also knows where the dog food is!

Well if you name a turtle Spot, he's bound to go for the dog food bowl... :) I almost named one of mine Spot too. He ended up with another dog name, Spike.

I wondered if you opened the door and whistled what would happen. "Here Spot, commere boy! Sit Spot, now stay, good turtle!"

 That's hilarious! Maybe he's thinking, "How come you guys get to live in that giant tank and I just live in a pond??"
