In the spring and summer I generally plant an extensive window-box garden. I live in an apartment and I have a balcony, so I set up 15-20 pots along the rail and grow flowers and herbs. This is my first year with a turtle, but I'm thinking about trying to pick a few things to grow that he can enjoy! This is more of a plant question than a turtle question, but can anyone suggest things that will grow well in pots or a window-box that would be good for a turtle?

Sweet Basil!! My turtle loves it. It will make your place smell good too!

dandelions!!! The leaves are wonderful for your turts and if you grow the plants yourself you don't have to worry about pesticides.

I don't know how it would do in a window box, but I usually grow a variety of lettuce in the garden. I get seed packs from the dollar store, and it has 4-5 varieties of lettuce in it (including red and green leaf)

i'd also recommend Basil and Dandelions. I think growing lettuce in window boxes is challenging. then it could also just be my experience, which was I killed it all.
