our tank is very plain. i've noticed other peoples tanks have plants in them. we put some plants in ours but he ripped them to pieces. would plastic plants be better?

yes, plastic plants will last much much MUCH longer! lol. Most of the pictures that are on here are actually fake plants, not real plants. The plastic plants though must be non-toxic or it could harm your turtle, because they may still try and eat them. my turts have tried to eat mine, but have been unsuccessful.

i only give my turtles live plants as a treat every once in awhile, because they eat/destroy them almost instantaneously.

Napoleon has some plastic plants, and he's been totally fine with the two that are in there, but I had to remove one a while ago because I noticed little bites taken out of the leaves. Don't know why he liked the one but not the others, but I wasn't willing to let him eat any more of it!

I have Sanderianas growing in my tank. My turt is still really small and even though he tries he can't rip through these. So they're safe for the time being. Here's a link with a picture, they are the 3rd picture down...

BTW, how big is your turtle/turtles?

DavidY: If you can't find any let me know and I can ship some to you. The little shop down the street from me has them for 2.99 each. I offer because I haven't seen them on any of the live plant sites I've visited yet.
