In most cases, it is not necessary to clean a shell. If it does have a slimy build up, use a clean towel and wipe it off. If there is algae and you want to remove it (its usually not harmful), use a new toothbrush and scrub it off.

Posted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 7:02 pmNever used soap with ANYTHING. That includes cleaning your tank, dock, etc... Never EVER use soap.
If you want to clean her shell, just use a toothbrush and brush very GENTLY.

Posted: Sun Apr 15, 2007 9:36 pmI have a special soft towel that I just wash it hot water. i wipe the kids shells every week when I clean the aquarium. One seems to like it even.
